Tour 2011 - West Midlands (yam yam!)
Adrian Moore, the founder of Moore's Tours has taken it upon himself to arrange a cricket club tour for the first time in a long time. Hopefully this will be a successful and well attended tour which could lead on to more future tours, potentially further afield. Adrian has a long history of arranging trips and tours so we should be in safe hands when it comes to accomodation, organisation, travel and value for money. The club are sure that the right man is in charge of this job!!
Dates
The tour will set off the club on Monday 27th June 2011 and will return after 2 nights away on Wednesday 29th June 2011. These dates have been chosen primarily for 3 reasons - they don't clash with an matches, we have opposition available and lined up on the Monday and the Tuesday, and finally because Adrian has found us some excellent deals on accomodation - but we have to move fast so we can book early and get these deals.
Matches
The games have been arranged for Monday and Tuesday. All being well we will also have played league and cup games on the Saturday and Sunday so some people may want to opt out or engage in squad rotation, if we have enough players. The teams that have been provisionally lined up are Marsden Green CC in Solihull and Hunningham CC in Leamington Spa. Information we have received is that these are both very sociable clubs who like to have a drink or two and are also expected to be a similar standard to ourselves, so we should be in line for a good few days.
Accomodation
Adrian is hoping to secure some TravelLodge accomodation for £20/room/night - so with 2 or 3 sharing the cost should be quite low.
Travel
It has yet to be decided whether we will be taking cars and paying people for petrol or whether we will be hiring a minibus/bus. Obviously the latter is potentially going to add to the cost of the trip. Have a think about whether you fancy a good banter coach trip for a slightly higher cost, or a cheaper car based journey (remember also you will have your luggage with you!).
Rules
U17s are allowed to come on the tour. However they must be accompanied by a responsible adult, or be officially allocated to a responsible adult. That person is then in charge of the juniors' safety at all times. It is illegal for under 18s to drink alcohol however they will be in the presence of people who will be enjoying an alcoholic drink. Therefore if a junior, or their family, are not comfotable with this, it is advised they do not attend.
Deposits are non-refundable unless, due to any multi-person savings, there is money left in the pot to be repaid from.
What goes on tour, stays on tour, and all that
Cost
At the moment we are asking for a £20 deposit - this needs to be paid before the end of April either online below or to Jonny Sykes or Adrian Moore. We expect the full cost of accomodation to be no more than £30/head (based on the cheap prices currently available), there is then the transport (TBC) and your beer/food money.
We are for now asking for a deposit of £20 as a sign of commitment and also so that the hotels can be booked soon, at the prices currently at which they are available.
Tourists
IF YOU WANT TO ATTEND AND YOUR NAME IS NOT ON THE LIST BELOW, OR YOUR NAME IS ON THE LIST AND YOU CAN NO LONGER ATTEND PLEASE INFORM JONNY SYKES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
The following people have said that they are coming on the tour on the dates shown above. Those that are displayed as unconfirmed have not yet confirmed whether the change to a Monday-Wednesday tour (originally Sunday-Tuesday) is OK.
