Race Night 2011
An exciting evening of horse racing, gambling, drinking and socialising on Saturday 4th June 2011. Come along and enjoy a classic race night, help the club raise much needed funds and have a fun evening with friends and family - who knows you might also win some money!
The evening will start will from 19:30 or as soon after the 1st XI game v Mytholmroyd. For those that have never been to a race night before this is the basic format;
Horses are 'sold' and races are sponsored
There will be 6 races + a grand finale
Each race has 6 horses which race against each other - this is done by drawing specially numbered cards or rolling a dice
When a horses' number is rolled or drawn the horse will move along 1 place
The first horse to the line wins
How do I get involved?
You can can get involved in one or more of 3 ways, depending on how involved you want to be;
Sponsor a race (£25) - this is top publicity for you or your company
Buy a horse (£10) - you get to name your horse and 'you' are the rider. Winners Prizes will be given to successful jockeys!
Bet on a horse or horses - each race has a bookmakers who will take bets. The odds are based on how many people gambled on each horse. If your horse wins, then so do you!
The Finale
Over the course of the evening everyone who has bet on a race is invited to put their losing tickets in to a raffle. 6 losing tickets at the end of the night will be drawn and those 6 losers will become the jockeys in the next race, giving you a great opportunity to take home a winners prize.
