Fundraising

This section of the website is aimed at people who are interesting in helping the club finance itself and improve facilities. Unfortunately we are not the most affluent club and although we have probably the biggest club house, best changing facilities, car parking and showers, we do not have the super nets, covers and equipment that some clubs are fortunate enough to have.

The main reason that we do not have the money that some clubs have is simple;
- money taken over the bar goes to the 'Club' not the cricket club. This pays for the facilities and clubhouse we share

We therefore have to make money through other means, such as;
  • charging for social nights - CurryOke, Umpah Band, Annual Dinner
  • raffles (which we don't do enough of)
  • Fantasy Cricket (coming 'online' in 2010)
  • sponsorships - website, kit, advertising boards

In 2010 we are looking at other initiatives and promoting those which are not so well publicised;

Old Crossleyans Buster Draw

The buster draw is a Club initiative which has been running for a number of years. It is a simple concept which most people will have come across at some point before.

A standing order is made to the club of £5 per month (thats about 2 pints of lager) which enters you in to the monthly draw. There are prizes of £150 and £75 to be won each month.

The huge incentive to this for us is that each year the Cricket section are then given back a large percentage (around 75%) of the money paid in by the cricket section members. Recently this has contributed around 40% of our annual income and bearing in mind there are less than 10 members and only 6 of those are players, it's something everyone should try and do if they can afford. Please!

Mobile Phone Recycling

This is just an idea I had after seeing an advert on TV and having spoken to someone who has been through the process and got money back.

Basically we collect old mobile phones, no chargers or manuals required - they don't even have to work. Then we send them to Mazuma Mobile who send us a cheque. It is money for nothing and although some people might want that money themselves, why not donate it to the club?

Lets see if we can raise £300 by the beginning of 2010 Season

Match ball sponsorships are available for all adult fixtures in 2010. Dave Neal is collecting a list of businesses and supporters who have agreed to pay for a sponsorship for next season.

Sponsorships are £25 per match, and there is no limit to the number of matches!

The match ball sponsors will benefit from featuring on a new match ball sponsorship banner the week they are sponsosring us, a place in the planned Match Ball Sponsors section, and also match day publicity
